Surviving Grocery Shopping
It’s a job we all have to endure, as I walk the aisles with my trolley loaded, one child hanging off the back, one in the toddler seat and one walking next to it, all asking for things on every shelf (damn you supermarket and your product placement! lollies, sugar cereals and cakes perfectly at their eye level) I glimpse over to another mother in a similar situation and give her an empathetic smile… and continue on. Yes, you can online shop – and I do this however there are always items I forget or need in between such as milk and bread.. I then again find myself again pushing the dreaded loaded trolley, however I do have some survival tips to make your life easier! Drop kids off at grandparents… ha ! Just joking
- Never shop hungry, this goes for you, and your kids… fill them up then head to the supermarket
- Make sure you’ve had at least 2 coffees prior to putting yourself through this torture
- Always, I repeat ALWAYS go armed with a list - that you have printed off from your kids favourite dinners planner (lol) or that you're reading off your phone.
- Let them push a little trolley if your supermarket has them and help by putting some items in their trolley (the items you choose not them)
- Never say yes to anything … once you say yes … it’s on and they want MORE! (I learnt this the hard way when everything in my sons trolley was sugar and chocolate based with a few toys for good measure)
- If they help you after the shopping perhaps they can have a treat … after never before
- Good luck !
