So here goes, the review you have all been waiting for – The Yumbox

Firstly, I really didn’t think I would like these as I was using the smash lunch bags, with containers and that was working well for me, and why fix something that aint broke – right? WRONG! These are really bloody good, and I am actually really excited by them for so many reasons that I think it’s easier to list in point for and elaborate if need be – so here goes!

• The inside has 6 compartments with little pictures to remind you to pack a balanced lunch box (dairy, fruit, protein, grains and vegetables) and my 5 year old seems to think that because the pictures are there that is what he has to have – and he is eating it – WINNER. There is a small circle in the middle and that is the ‘treat’ space – he does try squeeze in more than it should hold but we are working on that!
• The inside compartment comes out and easily washes
• It fits in my fridge – I was using three and as per photo they stack easily on top of each other (I couldn’t do this with my smash bags)
• They are light to carry
• The kids seem to love having the variety easier to access – they don’t have to carry lots of little containers, and its super easy for them to open unassisted
• You can pack them the night before as the seal keeps the food fresh for day in the fridge
• Fits in my smash bags, I literally take them out of the fridge and place them in the smash bags!
• BPA free

Some things to consider

• It takes a while to dry the inside compartment – so make sure you wash them straight after school pick up especially if you make lunches the night before like me!
• Do not over fill them or the seal won’t work properly
• You may want to purchase the Yumbox Panino – 4 section style for older children as the one I reviews doesn’t fit a sandwich (but I just cut it up smaller to fit)
