Being organised or OCD?

I don’t know about you, but dinners are a process, for me!

My friends don’t call me Monica from the TV show friends for nothing.

I like to be organised, I know this isn’t for everyone, but personally I do feel better about my week ahead if on Sunday I sit down with my pen and paper to create my meal planner, and shopping lists and plan what I am cooking for the week ahead, I then almost get this weird satisfaction when I do my groceries as If I am on top of my game (a bit ridiculous really!)

I need to start my Mondays having done this, as it puts me in a better place all week round for lunches, dinner preparations etc., and then frees me up for other things during the Chaos of my weeks, with kinder drops, school drops, a toddler and the madness in between.

I will give you the heads up, If things don’t go according to plan (it does happen and I HATE it) and I don’t get all this done before Monday, stay well away from me, because I am usually a flustered mess!! I know the school mums reading this will be nodding right about now!

On a Monday I cook double of whatever I am making and I give it to my neighbour – I think this is also why I like to have everything already planned out!

We started this when we both had our babies (3 weeks apart) to help give each other a day off from cooking, she then cooks for me on a Thursday... yes, you’re correct in assuming that I will never move from where I live with a neighbour like her! I cannot recommend this more, if you have a friend that lives close by or a neighbour give it a go! It really is a lovely thing to do for one another.

When I cook things that freeze well like a good old spaghetti sauce I also do double and freeze a batch, I love the thought of having stuff in my freezer to pull out on the days that don’t go to plan, or if a friend is having a bad day I can drop it to them, I do love cooking in big batches there is something about having a full freezer of pre-made meals that make me feel amazing (I know I am weird!)

Lastly every night before I go to bed I make the school lunches, and if I am feeling generous my husbands, I will confess It makes me sleep better knowing it is one less thing to do in the mornings!
